Promotion of Lumbini-Kapilvastu, Nepal and World Peace during 2019 World Festival in Leuven

June 8, 2019, Leuven, Belgium – Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign, Belgium (LKGCB) participated in 31st edition World Festival organized in the Bruul Park in Leuven, Belgium. The theme of the festival was – Everybody is Activist and more than 45 national and international organizations participated in the festival. An info stall of LKGCB was set-up in the Bruul Park with brochures and promotional materials related to Lumbini,-Kapilvastu, Visit Nepal 2020 and messages of Lord Buddha on World Peace.

Several festival participants visited LKGCB info stall and gathered relevant information and promotional materials including the following –

  • HE Mr Lok Bahadur Thapa, Ambassador, Embassy of Nepal in Belgium
  • Mr Mohamed Ridouani, Mayor of Leuven Municipality
  • Mr Carl Devlies, Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Finance of Leuven Municipality
  • Mr Dirk Vansina, Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Civil Affairs of Leuven Municipality
  • Mr Johan Geleyns Councillor of Sport and Trade, Leuven Municipality
  • Mr David Dessers, Councillor of Mobility and Environment, Leuven Municipality
  • Ms Lies Corneillie, Councillor of Living and Equal Opportunity, Leuven Municipality
  • Ms Liesbeth Vandermeeren, Member of City Council, Leuven Municipality
  • Ms Denise Vandevoort, Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Culture &Tourism, Leuven Municipality
  • Mr Ruben Geleyns and Katrien Vermijlen, Members of CD & V Party, Leuven.

Also present during this event were several LKGCB members – Mr Damodar Prasad Acharya, Dr. Rajendra Bari, Ms Yogita Thapa, Mr Baburam Sharma, Mr Anil Thapa, Ms Rashmi Niroula, Ms Shanti Bhattarai, Ms Maiya Wagle Nepal,  Ms SitaTiwari Ms Ganga Raya, Ms Rajani Raya Shrestha and Ms Shobha Acharya, including President of Kabhrepalanchok Aid Committee, Belgium, Mr Dinesh Uprety and Member of NRNA ICC of Belgium, Mr Padam Gurung.

In addition, during the visit, President of LKGCB Mr Damodar Prasad Acharya handed over a book entitled “Light of the Himalayas” to the Mayor Mr Mohamed Ridouani. Light of the Himalayas is a research based novel on Buddha’s life written by Late Prof. Dr Kavitaram Shrestha, who was a Global Advisor for Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign.

Thanks to the active support provided by members, followers and supporters of LKGCB, we promoted Lumbini-Kapilvastu, Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign and non-violence messages of Lord Buddha for World Peace.
