07 October 2024, Janakpur, Nepal – On the occasion of the International Day of Peace (21 Sep 2024), Lumbini Kapilvastu Global Campaign Belgium (LKGCB) joined hands with its partner organization, Lumbini World Peace Forum Nepal, to contribute to a tree plantation event aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and peace.

As part of the global efforts to mark this important day, a total of 250 mango trees were planted in Mujelia, Janakpur, Nepal. This initiative was part of a broader effort to bring together local communities in the spirit of collective action for peace and sustainability.

In addition, 400 trees were planted in Suddhodhan Rural Municipality in Lumbini, further expanding the reach of the initiative. As part of the program, 200 farmers in the region were each provided with two saplings—one mango and one litchi—empowering local communities to participate in the campaign and benefit from the fruits of sustainable agriculture.

A Collective Effort for Peace

The event underscored the belief that peace is not the result of an individual’s effort, but a collective realization that can leave a lasting impact on the world. Through this tree planting initiative, the organizations not only aimed to improve the local environment but also symbolized the deeper connection between nature and peace—two forces that sustain and nourish life.

LKGCB President, Dr. Rajendra Bari, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful event, saying, “As we celebrate the International Day of Peace, we are reminded that peace is nurtured through collective efforts. This tree planting campaign is a perfect example of how we can come together to make a positive difference in the world.”

1 Million Tree Plantation Campaign

This year’s tree plantation was part of a larger, ongoing campaign initiated by Basu Gautam, President of the Lumbini World Peace Forum Nepal. Thanks to his dedication and collaboration with other organizations, including LKGCB, the tree plantation event is part of an ambitious goal to plant 1 million trees for peace and environmental preservation.

“We are deeply thankful to Mr. Basu Gautam and the Lumbini World Peace Forum for their continued efforts to organize this tree plantation campaign on such a significant day. The support from all involved organizations is a testament to the power of collective action in making the world a better and safer place,” Dr. Bari added.

The initiative also highlights the importance of community-driven projects in fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices that benefit future generations. Through these efforts, both LKGCB and Lumbini World Peace Forum hope to inspire others to take similar actions in their own communities, reinforcing the message that peace begins with each of us working together.

A Call to Action

As the day concluded, the message was clear: peace and sustainability go hand in hand. By coming together to plant trees and support local farmers, we take one more step toward building a harmonious world where both nature and humanity can thrive.

LKGCB encourages everyone to take part in actions that contribute to a peaceful and sustainable future. “Let’s join hands and make this world a better and safer place for us all,” said Dr. Bari.

The event was a success thanks to the collaborative efforts of LKGCB, Lumbini World Peace Forum Nepal, and all the local communities and other organizations involved. As the tree saplings grow, so too will the seeds of peace and cooperation they represent.
