International Conference on Lumbini, Nepal successfully concluded

Brussels, 30 November, 2016-To promote peace for better world and to promote Lumbini, Nepal-the birthplace of Buddha on Sunday,  27 November 2016, int’l conference  on World Peace City Lumbini, Nepal has been successfully concluded in Hotel Bedford and Congress Center in Brussels, Belgium.

In the 8th anniversary of Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement, the conference was organized jointly by Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign and Lumbini Development Trust, the government of Nepal.

The conference was inaugurated by the highly regarded Buddhist scholars Ven. Khenpo Hungtrampa Rinpooche and Khenpo Tseten Dorje Rinpoche with lighting the candle.

The Int’l Conference was chaired by Damodar Prasad Acharya, the President of Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign, Belgium and Europe advisor of Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Global Movement. Ms Els Van Hoof, the former senator and member of parliament was chief  guest of this  conference.

The ambassador of Nepal to Benlux and  EU, Lok Bahadur Thapa and the Director of UNESCO Benelux and representative to EU, Paolo Fontani, Deepak Sharma, President of International Supply Chain of AAR Corp. were the special guests of the conference.

International Conference on World Peace City Lumbini, Nepal has been organized jointly with the Lumbini Development Trust first time in international arena.. The conference was live streaming through YouTube and watched from around the globe.

There were presented the papers regarding archaeological findings in Lumbini and Kapilvastu and the highly regarded Buddhist scholars from UK  Ven. Khenpo Hungtrampa Rinpoche and from Bhutan Ven. Khenpo Tseten Dorje Rinpoche had delivered their speech and urged to follow the teachings of Buddha for peace and harmony  for a better world.

The paper of Prof. Robin Conigham and UNESCO Consultant Kosh Prasad Acharya were presented by Dr Mark Manueal, on their unavaility. The paper of Dr Kavitaram Shrestha , was presented by her daughter, Ms Namrata Devkota.

The paper of the member-secretary of Lumbini Development Ttrust, Ajitman Tamang, was presented by Main Organizing Committee member, Dr Krishna Prasad Aryal. The Buddhist scholars have also presented their papers and inaugurated the conference with lightening the candle.

The conference official supporters were Embassy of Nepal Brussels, Non-Resident Nepalese Association, NCC Belgium and Belgium-Nepal Friendship Association.

The conference has passed 4 resolutions, which are given below. The organizer has received the apology message and good wishes for successful conference from the Prime minister of Belgium, Charles Michel, and Deputy Prime Minister and home minister of Belgum, Jan Jambon. The organizer have also received the best wishes for the successful conference from different diplomatic missions based in Brussels.

Director of UNESCO Benelux and EU, Paolo Fontani, the ambassador  of Nepal to Benelux and European Union, Lok Bahadur Thapa and the President of International Supply Chain of AAR Corp. Deepak Sharma, had highlighted the importance of Lumbini and the conference’s importance in their speech and thanked to the organizer for invitation.

Proposal 1: Decorate Nepal with the title of “ Buddhasthan” i.e.” Land of Buddha.”

Proposal 2: Erect a 100 feet tall Buddha metal Statue at Kakani Hilltop in north of Kathmandu Valley in coordination with Buddha Jayanti Trust (BJT), Lalitpur.

Note: It was Originally proposed by the 1stInternational conference, 2011, Kathmandu to correct at Tinkune, Kathmandu. As the land was not available in Tinkune now it is proposed to erect it at Kakani in the 40 ropanis of land owned by Buddha Jayanti Trust, under the coordination of Mr. Dharma Bahadur Shakya himself.

Proposal 3: Build a replica for 800 years old “Hiranya Waran Mahabihar” also known as “Golden Temple”, Lalitpur, at The Lumbini complex In coordination with Lumbini Development Trust .

Proposal 4: Provide a hand to “One Rupee Campaign for Lumbini Gate”,  initiated by Students of Nepal to build a Welcome gate at  the Nepal India  Board in Lumbini:
